This review is only for its "hoptel" which is a small hotel within the hospital and on its top floor. I was told to stay there when I was put to sleep for a normally out-patient procedure but did not have any family or friend to pick me up and take me home. I am a trucker who lives in his sleeper truck and I just did this procedure during a 34-hour reset in Chicago. The hoptel is just an old hospital wing converted into a hotel. They did very little remodeling. Mainly put in a queen-size bed for a hospital bed. For example, the sink is out by the bed and not in the bathroom, which does have its own shower. Awful pink is the hall color scheme. You feel like you are back in the 50s. They only provide feather pillows so if you are allergic to feathers (as I am), they will just give you a couple folded-up bed spreads and a pillow case. Very hard pillow. You cannot have any medical restrictions or they won't accept you as there is no nurse in the hoptel. Just an orderly. You are not to leave the floor once admitted. No roaming the hospital at night. In fact, if you shut your door when leaving your room, it will lock itself and the orderly will have to unlock it for you to re-enter so you need to prop the door open when needing to leave your room. There is a free water and ice machine by the orderly station. They will give you a voucher for a free dinner and another for breakfast in the hospital's cafeteria. Be sure to hit the hospital cantina before it closes. See the photo of what I bought from it spread out on my bed. You have to check out by 10 am. If I had to pay, it would get just one star BUT as it is free, they give you a bag of free tioletries (tooth brush, small tube of toothpaste, comb, soap bar, small bottle of shampoo, and a small bottle of hair conditioner), a wash cloth, a drying towel, and you don't share the room with someone else, I give it five stars. VA, thank you for providing this to us vets who are away from home.

I cannot say enough good things about the nurses and doctors at this hospital. I was there for bariatric surgery on 1/8/24 and everyone was so incredibly kind and treated me so well. THANK YOU to the staff here, especially the bariatric staff and Karene Goodman!

In 2008 I witnessed 4 VA police officers who took a patient for an elevator ride. I will never forget the look the elderly man gave me while he was getting beaten to a pulp and then an officer pushed me away from trying to get on the elevator. I went to patient advocate and the next time I was there I went to the restroom using the urinal and when I finished and turned around a female police officer was less than a foot away from me.

The Emergency Room team was amazing. It was a Saturday night and there was no wait time. I saw a nurse immediately and a doctor within 10 minutes. You can't get that kind of care at a private hospital. The team was all professional and answered all my questions and made sure I got the care I needed.

loved every part of it, i had a hypertensive episode a few Januarys ago. first the ambulance took me to Community Hospital in Munster,. i told them the day after i was admitted that i had no health insurance but my VA, they made me stay in the hospital for about 3 weeks when they could have transferred me that day to Jesse Brown, Community is cold, only the cleanup people are nice and they gamble in there. literally, also my doctor told me i was a terrible patient.,this one..... Dr. Arora .. , then he sent my account to a collection agency because i dont have 3 thousand to give him, never will. i EARNED my VA from my Army days in the 70s, im a wac. the food is amazing, the nurses really care , when i got there they gave me real pjs to put on,. not a cold open in the back gown like at Community. now my bp is down, it was 200. and theyre helping me manage it with meds ive earned, id give them a zillion stars if i could.im 68.

Hello, Regarding Jashawn Weaver, one of your employees in the engineering services division, I was reaching out to you. He smokes regularly, and he would flunk a drug test right now if given one.Mr. Weaver also steals time by getting haircuts while at work on the clock and has his co workers watch out for him. In addition, he will smoke in his car while at work. Weaver, who is well-known for his abuse, received legal notice last month of a restraining order. In order to keep everyone secure, I believe it's critical to be aware of these details about the people you hire. Working while under the influence is risky, in my opinion, but it's particularly dangerous in medical settings.

I spent the day there with my Dad for tests. I've never seen such love in a hospital. Even in gift shop and cafeteria. Everyone was so polite and showed appreciation to one another. Multiple Dr went over my Dad's results. There's no hospital/staff like this in my state.

The DMVs of Veteran affairs. Every time I leave the VA I wish I never came there. they’re the worst kind of staff imaginable. Judgemental and off putting. Also why not try to find a different vein at this point??

They need security/police at the front drop off bay. Uber, uber eats, random cars are always in the way taking FOR EVER to move out the way. NON EMERGENT TRANSPORTATION VANS AND BUSES need those spots open to drop off OUR VETERANS.
